With the eleven tiered Meru (Pagoda shaped), the Royal Temple of Mengwi is one of the most important temples in Bali. Built in the 17th century by one of the Kings of the Mengwi dynasty, this complex stands on a small island with the inner area surrounded by moat. complex stands on an island in a river, its inner temple surrounded by a moat.
