Cape of Good Hope

The Cape of Good Hope is located at the most south-western corner of the Cape Peninsula in Western Cape, Cape Town of South Africa. It is about 2 kilometres west and a little south of Cape Town. Both the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Town offer spectacular scenery. with wild, rugged, scenic and generally unspoiled national park.

The first European to reach the cape was the Barthomolew Diaz from Portugal in 1488, who named it the "Cape of Storms" (Cabo das Tormentas). It was later renamed by John II as "Cape of Good Hope" (Cabo da Boa Esperança) because of the great optimism engendered by the opening of a sea route to India and the East. (Wikipedia, 2009).

Well this cape might be a good place for anyone who has lost hopeto catch the historical cape of good hope..HOPEfully, the visitors will not turned into a hopeless person..lol :P...here are the photos for the hopeless to be turned into hopeful..

The 'Down Under' of South Africa

Cape Point is the most SouthWest corner of South Africa which is as low as the lowest border in Australia. Well of course it's the at the SouthEast corner of Capetown though. The South Latitude and the East Longitude is as shown below.

At the Cape Point, you can either hike up (it takes only 15mins) or you can take a ride on the 'Flying Dutchman', a funicular railway train. Well let's enjoy the beautiful landscapes rather than stories here.

That's the Lighthouse up there..not sure if it's still operational.
.but it's quite old..well I 'hike' up there

JACKASS Penguinnnss

Boulders beach is a beach made up of granite boulders around. It's famous in Cape Town because of colony of penguins which settled down there in 1982. There are more than 1000 penguins in the beach at the moment. The name of the penguins is African penguins or formally named as 'Jackass Penguins' and they can grow up to 68-70cm tall and weigh between 2 and 5kg. They were just left to roam around the beaches without any disturbance from the public. Practically, they are harmless, but they will bite if you're too near to them...
