They Call it "The God's Window"

Posted on 07:39 by Unknown
Fret not! Part of my South Africa posting in the year 2009 has not ended yet. As part of my final trip in South Africa, namely the Kruger National Park, I took the chance to drop by God’s Window which is part of the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve.

God’s Window is a popular vantage point along the Drakensberg escarpment in Mpumalanga Province of South Africa. The name God’s Window is for the panoramic view of the Lowveld which is more than 900 m down into lush indigenous forest clad ravine. The cliffs plunge over 700 metres to the Lowveld which means it is as high as the Penang Hill. Remember the famous 1980 cult film The Gods Must Be Crazy? God’s Window features prominently in the plot whereby the indigenous Bushman character travels to God’s Window, and due to some low-lying cloud cover believes it to be the end of the Earth.

On a clear day it is possible to see the Kruger National Park towards the Lebombo Mountains on the border with Mozambique. Just one look down and you will begin to understand why it is called "God's Window". Such majestic observation of the hills and forests are as far as the eye can see!

One of the panoramic vantage point overlooking the whole forest area.

a mini 'rainforest' along the walkway towards the window

Lots of pine trees all over and can you see the background of this photo? majestic!

700 meters high view!

close-up view of the forests...actually deforestation is happening here but according to the locals these trees are farmed for paper and the cleared area are being planted with new trees again. Well is it sustainable? You can decide!
From the other side of the vantage point
That's me as a proof that I was there during the winter!

The Return of Gundam RX-78

Posted on 05:07 by Unknown
For the fans of Gundam, the Mobile Suit Gundam is back in Tokyo! And this time it’s unveiled at a new indoor theme park with the original life size statue of Gundam RX-78 standing in front of the park. Situated at Odaiba、the statue stands at 60-foot tall and weighs 77,000-lb.

And to explain about why I only get to snap these photos outside was because my last stay in Tokyo was on the 4th of April 2012 while the highly-anticipated theme park "Gundam Front Tokyo" was opened on the 19th of April in DiverCity Tokyo shopping plaza. Thanks to my friend’s reliable information that we’re able to see this life size statue. For the Gundam fans (I am as well), the indoor attraction features a large dome-shaped video screen, life size Strike Freedom of Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny, exhibition areas with plastic models of robots from the series, and galleries of original drawings, according to the Asahi Shimbun.

Fret not, I will definitely be returning back to Tokyo again with my personal mouth watering coverage of the Gundam Front Tokyo.

Top things to do on a Cruise

Posted on 09:28 by Unknown

Fancy hopping abroad the cruise ship for your summer vacation? Pleasure voyages, where the voyage itself and the ship's amenities are part of the experience. Cruising has become a major part of the tourism industry, accounting for USD 29.4 billion with over 19 million passengers carried worldwide in the year 2011. The industry's rapid growth has seen nine or more newly built ships catering to a North American clients added every year since 2001, as well as others servicing European clients. Smaller markets, such as the Asia-Pacific region, are generally serviced by older ships. These are displaced by new ships in the high growth areas.

Currently, the world's largest cruise ships are Royal Caribbean International's MS Oasis of the Seas and its sister ship MS Allure of the Seas. Well what are you waiting for? Get your Family Cruises package. Don’t know what to do in a cruise? Here are some of the top recommendations!

Another ‘crazy’ experience! Skating on a ship! Well yes that’s possible on the Royal Caribbean cruise

Go for rock climbing
Artificial or genuine rock-climbing..none of these experiences compares to rock climbing in the middle of the ocean.

Top 4 Summer Vacations in the Mediterranean Sea

Posted on 10:25 by Unknown
Off the land, off the feet, we’re hitting the ocean. One of the best places to hit is the Mediterranean Sea. Connected to the Atlantic Ocean and surrounded by the Mediterranean region, the Mediterranean Sea has an average depth of 1,500 m (4,900 ft) and the deepest recorded point is 5,267 m (17,280 ft) in the Calypso Deep in the Ionian Sea. Because of its deep and beautiful seas there are 4 recommended holiday activities to be planned for the summer holiday.

Snorkelling

Of several islands in the middle Mediterranean Sea, lies a small island called Malta Island. One of the heavenly spots for snorkelling activity one should visit the Blue Lagoon to enjoy its emerald ocean between Comino and Cominotto Island.

Diving

Recommending the French coast as a diving spot, one should visit the Corsica Island. Corsica Island offers one of the most diving sites with a total of 39 dive sites.

Catamaran Cruise

Past the port of Majorca, is the highly recommended Catamaran cruising. Onboard your catamaran, and enjoy views of the Majorca coastline and the neighbouring island of Menorca.

Cute Bambi Deer at Nara Park, Japan

Posted on 01:29 by Unknown
Previously a huge private garden, Nara Park (奈良公園) is a public park located in the city of Nara, Japan, at the foot of Mount Wakakusa, established in 1880. The park is one of the "Places of Scenic Beauty" designated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). There are over 1,200 wild sika deer (シカ or 鹿 shika) roaming freely around in the park classified as a "Natural Monument." Nara National Museum and Great Buddha of Todai-ji, is also part of the park compound.

According to local folklore, deer from this area were considered sacred due to a visit from one of the four gods of Kasuga Shrine, From that point onwards, the deer were considered divine and sacred. Killing one of these sacred deer was a capital offense punishable by death at least up until 1637. Post World War II the deer were officially stripped of their sacred/divine status and were instead designated as National Treasures and are protected as such. Of course, we are not allowed to kill or capture those deer but there are accident cases whereby deer are killed in road accident at night

Deer roaming around freely

Bambi!

One of the deer in which its horn has been cut to be used into types of household product..but it will always re-grow again..

The Sika Deer (name derived from shika (鹿), Cervus nippon, also known as the Spotted Deer or the Japanese Deer, is a species of deer native to much of East Asia and introduced to various other parts of the world. It is now on the brink of extinction in all areas except in Japan, where the species is overabundant.

Source: Wikipedia, 2012

Too hungry? or just trying its luck with the chain? Those chains are not to restrict the deer..they are just used a marker to show their main 'housing' space. The deers can just come out anytime
Laze around..ahh that's life..with free food for them without any worries
or getting pat by tourists..this is what we want to see in any part of the world..animals and human can co-exist together

That's me feeding the deer with rice crackers aka Shika senbei (鹿煎餅)
